Fête de la Musique

Today is the day of the best street festival in France ( and sometimes in other countries...)
Every year, on the day of the summer solstice, the people of France descend into the streets by thousands for an all-night celebration of music ( and if the following day is a working day, never mind)
It will be celebrated in every city, towns and villages. You will never see so many people out in a sleepy village!

Et aujourd'hui nous sommes le 21 juin!!!!! ( Même si le temps ici à Londres ne le montre pas)

Created in 1982 by the French Minister of Culture to promote music of all genre and accessible by all. Performed in the streets, parks, public building gardens, squares, etc

It's a free popular fête, open to any participant (amateur or professional musicians) who wants to perform in it.
all styles of music in a cheerful atmosphere. It aims at a large audience, working to popularise musical practice for young and not so young people from all social backgrounds. It gives an opportunity to communicate and share a very special moment through music.

The musicians are asked to perform for free, and all the concerts are free for the public. It’s the reason why they are used to play in open air areas as streets and parks or in public buildings like museums, train stations, castles… Furthermore, the Fête de la Musique is a way to encourage the major music institutions (orchestra, opeIt takes place every 21st June, the day of the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere.ras, choirs, etc.) to perform outside their usual locations. This kind of institutions can also welcome other types of music. In this way it offers an opportunity to develop exchanges between city centres and their outlying areas, to offer concerts in hospitals or in prisons, to promote encounters and exchanges between young musicians and well-known talents.
In France this festival takes place every 21st June, even if the days falls in the middle of the week. You might not be at your best in the middle of the night but never mind.
Look what's happening in Swizerland;
